Resources for Congregations

One of the responsibilities of the Peace and Justice Committee is communication with our local congregations on Peace issues. Committee members have expertise in some of the topics listed below -- or we can help you identify resources, speakers, or training opportunities for your work in many peace-related topics.

We can provide, or help your arrange for:

  • Presentations / preaching / teaching / workshops:
    • for worship / Sunday school / special gatherings
    • training / consultation for peace groups or projects

Current Topics include:

  • Biblical witness and public policy
  • Getting started with your peace committee
  • Colombia: Creating Hope in the Crossfire
  • Who are the Mennonites: An introduction to
    Anabaptist history, beliefs and peacemaking.
  • Responding to violence -- Peacebuilding 101
  • Earthcare / Ecojustice -- what we can do now
energy alternatives / stewardship / farm policy
climate change / clean air and water / toxic waste
  • Teaching peace with youth and young adults
  • Globalization for Beginners
  • Immigration -- strangers in whose land?
  • Open conversation on current issues and the
work of our Conf. Peace and Justice Comm.

Financial Notes:

Most of our services are "free" since we receive financial support from the EDC and Franconia Conference budgets, and committee members serve as volunteers. (However, contributions toward our work or travel costs are welcome if you choose to do so.) Sometimes we can provide or recommend sources of funding for small congregational peace building programs or projects.
