A Place to Call Home: Immigrants, Refugees, and Displaced Peoples -- workshops on U.S. domestic issues, eco-justice, Latin America, Jubilee economics, Africa and the Middle East, co-sponsored by MCC Washington Office. The event will be held at the Doubletree Hotel in Crystal City, VA -- just across the Potomac River from Washington, DC. Begins Friday evening, and includes Congressional office visits on Monday. Registration fee is $160, which includes some meals. Lodging at the Doubletree Crystal City is an additional $125 per night (plus tax) -- but this cost can be reduced by sharing your room with others, and there are other lodging options. Healing the Wounds of Racism There are four offerings of the basic anti-racism workshop in 2010; these sessions run for 2 1/2 consecutive days (e.g. Friday evening through Sunday afternoon). December 11, 2010 (Saturday: Nazareth to Bethlehem, PA) 51st Annual Christmas Peace Pilgrimage This annual pilgrimage recalls the journey of Mary and Joseph. Participants meet in Bethlehem at 11am, and buses transport pilgrims to Nazareth Moravian Church on Center Square where the Pilgrimage begins. Pilgrims may join at any point along the way. The pilgrimage concludes at Christ United Church of Christ in Bethlehem, around 5:30 for a light meal and rally. Guest speaker after supper will be Nancy Tate, who has been Director of LEPOCO Peace Center in Bethlehem for 36 years. For more information, see www.peacewalk.org. |
